Some water companies are now proposing to charge churches for water as businesses rather than charities. If this action is made official there could be many churches who will have to close owing to financial problems. We, therefore, ask that you join us in signing the petition at Downing Street in order to fight against this decision as well as to save vulnerable churches from having to close their doors to parishioners. To date (26th July) there have been 30,790 signatures. Below is a message from Sally our Treasurer at Christ the King - please read on......... (Message from Sally) "Christ the King could be faced with significant increases in water rates because water boards wish to treat Churches as businesses and not charities. Christ the King finances are very tight and such a move would only cause us even more difficulties.
Please click on the link below to read a letter received from the Diocese of Southwark which also includes a link to a Downing street petition where if you feel inclined you can sign up to register your name against the proposals. I signed up today."
