'Induction' Service

Father Paul Keown

Wed 3rd September 2008

Well the long awaited day came when Father Paul was to be 'Inducted' as Priest at Christ the King.  It had been a busy period leading up to the big day in ensuring that everything went well on the night, from ensuring that the flower displays looked outstanding (as they always do, of course), to ensuring that the service proceeded without any major hitches (the responsibility of the Master of Ceremonies and on the occasion of the Induction this was Tony Lindell).  A big thanks to all those involved in the flower arranging and the 'Serving ' team who, together helped to make this a memorable evening and to anybody else involved in the preparations prior to and during the service.  Finally we all got to sing the Recessional hymn that we had been practicing for a few Sundays and were, by now, more familiar with and one which, I must add, was very appropriate for the occasion and decidedly grew on me the more I heard it.

It was good to meet friends of Father Paul both Priests and previous congregation members, who had especially travelled down for the 'Induction'  to support him.  It was also good to meet Fr. Paul's family, Carolyn his wife together with children Guy, Toby and Katie and we hope their stay here in Salfords will be fruitful.  We were all privileged to be a part of this service and look forward to all that God has planned for us through Father Paul's ministry here.

Thankfully the rain did hold off until after the service had finished, after which time we all made our way over to the Village Hall for some very welcome refreshments and a mingle with the guests.

May God's blessing be with Father Paul at this time and may we all go 'forth in the peace of Christ' (as we are reminded in the Recessional hymn states).
